Robinson Cruso
Robinson is the only survivor of Amber Queen, sank during a storm. Is found abandoned on a desert island. Repel the limits of survival, manage hunger, thirst and fatigue to the rhythm of the tides. Collect items flowed along the coast to build a shelter and make clothes to cover. Take, fishing and hunting to obtain food. Finally, explore the island and discover the secrets that will allow you to escape.
You play the part of a shipwrecked Robinson Crusoe type on the obligatory desert island. You have to wander around and collect things so you can build things to survive.
Its not just the standard fishing and bow and arrows, nope you can make clothes, cabins and even pots if you want to. Unfortunately theres noone to talk to, so you wander around a lot by yourself. But there are plenty of creatures milling around, birds, goats and even wild predators. These last ones you should stay clear of, as well as the snakes else you will get mauled or bitten. The snakes dont instantly kill you, but will sap your energy and if you lose all your energy, thirst or hunger levels then its game over.
But its fairly easy to replenish your energy. Theres loads of food lying about the beaches and jungles and if you pick them up you can carry them around with you. Robinson seems to have a TARDIS like backpack, in that he carries an infinite amount of stuff right down to heavy logs and stones. But they are all useful and the different foods give you different boosts in either energy, hunger or thirst.
As you progress you will be able to get different types of food either by fishing (net or rod), hunting or by chucking stones at trees to get coconuts.
The stone chucking and hunting involves taking aim with your stone or arrow and trying to hit things. Net fishing involves dropping a net to catch fish.
Not that it really matters as after the tides come in, you will find plenty more food scattered around the beaches. Get a good fire and roasting spit going and some of it will even taste good. Yep, there are tides. You can find out when the next one is coming by checking the weather menu in the pause screen. As the tides come they drop off food and other trinkets and allow you to access different parts of the island. But be careful you dont get stuck there and cant make your way back.
With trees overhanging you may miss a piece of branch or dry grass that you need and therefore you need to pay attention. Also, you have a large island to explore, some areas becoming very narrow later on, making a quick retreat from snakes somewhat tricky.
Still, if you keep checking your creation menu list you will definitely get the urge to explore and find those key elements to make a rope or a potters wheel. You will even get more funky clothes as you progress. There are also some nice little touches like being able to see how overweight you have gotten, or having animals run away from you once you have hunted them. Not the jaguars though!
Its certainly very addictive and I guarantee you once you start playing you wont stop. Now if I could only find that hammer....
