Ear Buddy

Ear Buddy makes your mono Bluetooth headset work better.

It announces callers by name through Bluetooth.

It plays music and podcasts over Bluetooth. It will not crash your phone if you turn off your headset, like other apps offering this feature.

Your Fring calls go over Bluetooth. Your Skype calls go over Bluetooth.
You can speak to Voice Search over Bluetooth. You can even launch Voice Search by Bluetooth headset button, a button on a wired headset or by a hardware camera button -- even when the phone is locked and asleep.

It is being offered at an introductory price and will soon be priced at $3 or more.

NOTES:

+ your phone will need to have its Text-to-Speech set up for call announce to work.

+ The app icon brings up a Settings panel. The rest of its work is all transparent, dependent on the chosen settings

+ A link to a web site is accessible from the Settings panel

+ Skype support is iffy, as that app is so massive. Improvements in the situation really have to be initiated from their end, I feel.

+ Speaking to Voice Search through a Bluetooth headset may degrade recognition accuracy noticeably. Click Ear Buddy's icon to see the options I provide.
